Pangaimotu Island Resort is a beautiful privately owned uninhabited island just 10 minutes by boat from Nukualofa Wharf. The resort offers just 4 hand crafted traditional thatch bungalows, each with double bed with mosquito net, private bathroom (cold water only) and sitting area. All bungalows face the beach and offer privacy. There's a large restaurant / bar area offering cold drinks and all day meals. The beach is extremely picturesque all around the island (it takes about 20 minutes to walk around) and there's good snorkelling right off the restaurant around a ship wreck.

Pangaimotu Island is a popular day trip destination, especially on Sundays when local Tongans come here for a day out. There are four to five daily ferries from Queen Salote Wharf. Guests arriving in the early hours of the morning can be picked up that night and taken to the resort without having to spend a night in Nukualofa (extra charge applies for ferry transfers). Once on the island, guests can take the ferry to Nukualofa as many times as they wish (no extra charge) to explore Tongatapu or enjoy a day of shopping in Nukualofa.
